An interview with Mike Mitchell, MMP Living

Mitchell is an entrepreneur with more than a quarter century of experience in the implementation of technology, management of operations, and business development in everything from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies. In his career, he’s worked with clients including Orvis, Crate and Barrel, Williams Sonoma, Sharper Image and Frontgate. Working for Abacus, he drove more than $50 million in sales through product launches, and was a driving factor in launching Amazon UK. With Datalogix, he played a major role in developing the business from $1 million to more than $80 million in sales before his departure.
Now, as founder and COO of MMP Living, Mitchell manages global Amazon relationships, we well as overall business operations, technology, and the development of current and new brand relationships.
Mitchell believes the new partnership between his company and SmarterChaos is a match made in heaven.
“We’re e-com, SmarterChaos is digital…that’s where we think there’s a fit. Before we partnered, I talked to Matt like 10 times, and told him, ‘you know we’re in Denver.’ Now, we’re another leg of the stool for them. Building pipelines for each other. We’re just quietly doing our thing, a top 50 worldwide seller and partner on Amazon, and we’re quite established,” Mitchell says. “We predominantly sell on Amazon, but we’re also on some of the other e-commerce platforms like Jet, eBay, Walmart, and we’re starting to do a huge amount of business on Facebook through our shop.”
Building and protecting brands is Mitchell’s passion.
“There’s nothing more important to us than protecting and building brands. And I use the term protecting, because with the proliferation of gray goods, there’s so many challenges, and we’re so diligent and resolute to protect brands,” Mitchell explains.
“In my dealings with SmarterChaos,” Mitchell continues, “I’ve learned more in an hour than I knew in my lifetime of how digital marketing works. Every one of the people I’ve met within their organization has taught me something and I’ve loved it. And I believe that the future of our businesses is so great.”
“Our office is in Westminster, Colorado, where we have 30 guys,” Mitchell says. “We also have an office in Dublin, Ireland, where my business partner is from, and we have 10 guys over there as well.”
